Motorcycle Production Plant Goes Online at Indonesian Subsidiary

Tokyo, April 8, 2014 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it celebrated the launch of a new motorcycle production plant (Plant No. 2) today at its Indonesian subsidiary, PT. Kawasaki Motor Indonesia.

Located in Bekasi Regency, just outside Jakarta, the plant is now up and running. It boasts a site area of 150,000 m2 and an annual production capacity of 150,000 units. The plant has started with producing two sports models, the Ninja 250SL and KLX 150, and will eventually expand production to include other models.

Indonesia is the world's third largest market for motorcycles, and with the recent economic boom, the number of recreational riders is growing. KMI began producing motorcycles at its Plant No. 1 located in Jakarta and selling imported motorcycles in 1995. The launch of the new plant has enabled it to increase production capacity to meet the growing demand in the Indonesian market. It is expected to bring the sales volume for 2014 up to 200,000 units.

Kawasaki is continually working to deliver products and services that drive customer satisfaction and enhance the Kawasaki brand.
